Relaxation & Recall

  • Prereq Classes: n/a

    Prereq Skills: ability to feel comfortable around novel dogs and humans.*

    *If your dog struggles with this skill, check out our private lessons for help.

  • Skills introduced:

    • Off leash prep

    • Recall

    • Relaxation around distractions

    This class is intended to give you foundation skills to teach your dog how to thrive and adapt when out & about.

  • Time: Tuesday evenings for 3 weeks (this is a 1hr class)

    Location: Connective Community Center (3360 Fraser St, Vancouver, BC V5V 4C1)

    Maximum Capacity: 4 dogs per class & 4 humans per dog (please leave children under 10 at home)

    Prerequisites: N/A

    Cost: $195 +GST

    Vaccinations & Behavior Requirements: Dogs must be over the age of 4 months and be able to provide proof of vaccinations/titer tests. If your dog has a history of human or dog directed aggression/fear, or a history of excessive barking in group settings, please seek our private training programs instead.

    1. Longline Handling, Touch, Treat Toss, Scatter Games, Intro to Matwork

    2. Relay Race, Matwork with Exciting Distractions, Take off & Chase games

    3. Recall off Distractions, Matwork with Nearby Distractions, Report Cards with Individualized Feedback & Suggested Next Steps, Optional 1-on-1 Time with the Teacher

    Students receive a copy of all the concepts covered in class via emailed PDF for practice between classes and after graduation

Leash Manners & Focus

  • Prereq Classes: n/a

    Prereq Skills: ability to feel comfortable around novel dogs and humans. Ability to settle quietly on leash with an activity while other dogs and humans are around*

    *If your dog struggles to do either of these skills, check out our Relaxation & Recall workshop or private lessons for help.

  • Skills introduced:

    • Loose Leash Walking

    • Reactivity Prevention

    • Focus around distractions

    This class is intended to give you foundation skills to teach your dog how to thrive and adapt when out & about.

  • Time: Tuesday evenings for 3 weeks (this is a 1hr class)

    • Dog to Dog On Leash Greetings

    • Dog to Human On Leash Greetings

    • Dog to Human In Home Greetings

    This class is intended to introduce you to the skills necessary to adapt to the huge variety of situations that occur when living in the city

  • Time: Tuesday evenings for 3 weeks (this is a 1hr class)

    Location: Connective Community Center (3360 Fraser St, Vancouver, BC V5V 4C1)

    Maximum Capacity: 4 dogs per class & 4 humans per dog (please leave children under 10 at home)

Settling In & Stay

  • Prereq Classes: Relaxation & Recall

    Prereq Skills: settling quietly on leash with an activity while other dogs and humans are around, some ability to focus on handler around dogs and humans*

    *If your dog struggles to do either of these skills, check out our beginner life skills workshops for help.

  • Skills introduced:

    • Settling in public spaces (think coffee shop & brewery patio)

    • Stay with Distance, Duration & Distractions

    • Redirection for alert barking in the home

    This class is intended to introduce you to the skills necessary to adapt to the huge variety of situations that occur when living in the city

  • Time: Tuesday evenings for 3 weeks (this is a 1hr class)

    Location: Connective Community Center (3360 Fraser St, Vancouver, BC V5V 4C1)

  • Rotating outdoor fieldtrips to practice everything you’ve learned with us out in the real world. Join us as we practice what you’ve learned at:
